iOS 11 is the eleventh major update for Apple’s iOS mobile operating system that runs on mobile Apple devices like the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
Apple iOS 11 was introduced at the company’s 2017 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in early June 2017 along with macOS High Sierra and new versions of watchOS and tvOS. Apple iOS 11 officially arrived on September 19th, 2017.
What’s New in Apple iOS 11?
Codenamed Tigris, Apple iOS11 builds on iOS 10 with new features and enhancements that include a completely redesigned, combined Lock screen and Notification Center, a much more customizable Control Center with many new options and settings, a more intelligent and natural-sounding Siri, a redesigned App Store with more editorial content, and Messages integration with iCloud for better synchronization of messages across your Apple devices.
Apple has since updated iOS 11 to iOS 11.1 on October 31, 2017 and then to iOS 11.1.1 on November 9. iOS 11.1 added over 200 new emoji, but it also introduced a frustrating autocorrect bug that would cause the letter “I” to be auto-corrected to “A [?]” in text messages, Facebook posts, emails, and more. As a result, Apple had to rush out the iOS 11.1.1 update to address the issue.
iOS 11 isn’t supported on all versions of Apple products. Compatible devices include iPhone 6 and later releases, iPad mini 2 and later, iPad 4th generation and later and the iPod touch 6th generation.
