Sui’s USDsui Stablecoin Hits Record $80M as Circulation Jumps 21%: Is SUI Set to Benefit?

Key Takeaways

  • USDsui’s circulation reached a record $80 million, up 21% over 90 days.
  • Issued by Stripe-owned Bridge, the stablecoin supports Sui’s payments and DeFi ecosystem.
  • The Sui Foundation uses stablecoin yield to buy SUI, then redistributes the tokens to ecosystem participants rather than burning them.

Sui’s native USDsui stablecoin has reached approximately $80 million in circulation, marking a record as the blockchain seeks to turn demand for digital dollars into funding for its ecosystem.

Market data put USDsui’s supply growth at 20.5% over 90 days. CoinGecko separately reported approximately 80 million tokens in circulation, supporting the headline milestone.

The development gives SUI investors more than a liquidity metric to watch.

Sui’s stablecoin revenue model links reserve earnings to token purchases, although expanding the USDsui supply does not automatically translate into sustained gains for SUI.

USDsui Growth Adds Liquidity to Sui’s Ecosystem

Issued by Bridge, a Stripe company, USDsui provides a native digital dollar for applications built on Sui.

Sui introduced the project in November 2025 using Bridge’s Open Issuance platform. Its announcement outlined uses across wallets, decentralized finance, payments and gaming, alongside interoperability with other Bridge-powered stablecoins.

Mysten Labs cofounder Adeniyi Abiodun described the ambition as building an ecosystem where “stablecoin economics fuels real-world adoption.” Sui said revenues flowing to the network would support growth and investment programs.

The reported 20.5% increase implies a starting supply of roughly $66.4 million, meaning circulation expanded by approximately $13.6 million over the period.

AMBCrypto also reported that Sui’s decentralized finance total value locked increased more than 20% to around $530 million during the same window.

Those figures suggest simultaneous growth in dollar liquidity and capital deposited in applications.

However, they do not establish that USDsui caused the TVL increase. Changes in asset prices, lending activity, and deposits of other tokens can also affect the dollar value locked across protocols.

The clearest potential benefit for SUI comes through Sui’s buyback mechanism.

According to the network’s official revenue dashboard, the Sui Foundation uses stablecoin yield to purchase SUI on the open market daily. It then distributes purchased tokens to participants, including DeFi projects, validators, and ecosystem partners.

Importantly, those tokens are not burned. Sui explicitly states that buybacks leave total token supply unchanged. The mechanism creates market purchases and finances ecosystem activity, rather than permanently removing tokens from circulation.

The dashboard also reports stablecoin earnings as a combined stream, rather than separating revenue by coin. Consequently, its aggregate figures should not be attributed entirely to USDsui.

Reported yield is gross, before platform fees, and some current-month rewards remain estimates until finalized.

These distinctions matter when assessing the investment case. A larger stablecoin float could generate additional reserve income under comparable conditions, creating resources for further purchases. But the amount ultimately available depends on yields, costs and the applicable revenue arrangements.

Supply Growth Alone Cannot Confirm a SUI Rally

USDsui’s milestone strengthens the case that Sui is developing another source of ecosystem funding. It provides less certainty about the direction of SUI’s market price.

Circulation measures how many stablecoins exist, rather than how frequently people use them. Newly issued tokens might support trading, lending or payments, but they could also remain concentrated in a small number of wallets.

Evidence of broader adoption would include sustained transfer activity, deeper exchange liquidity, active borrowers and recurring payment demand. Investors should also distinguish growth in USDsui from growth across Sui’s entire stablecoin market.

For SUI, the strongest confirmation would be expanding stablecoin usage accompanied by rising realized revenue and consistent disclosed buybacks. The $80 million milestone supports that possibility, while leaving the scale and durability of the token’s benefit unresolved.
