The Surface Book is the first laptop computer offering from Microsoft, and it mades its debut in October 2015 along with the fourth generation of the Surface Pro tablet, the Surface Pro 4.

The display can be removed and used on its own as a tablet, and it can also be flipped back 360 degrees for use in tablet mode while still attached to the keyboard.
The Surface Book includes the company’s Windows 10 Pro operating system and is powered by a sixth generation Core i5 Intel Skylake processor in the most affordable configuration, which costs $1499. The base configuration also includes a 128GB solid-state drive and 8GB of RAM.
Microsoft’s Surface Book is designed to compete against laptops like Apple’s MacBook Pro line and Lenovo’s Yoga laptops. Microsoft started taking pre-orders for the Surface Book in early October, with actual shipping beginning on October 26, 2015.
