ASAP Meaning & Definition

ASAP is an acronym for As Soon As Possible, meaning at the earliest possible moment or promptly. ASAP is a common chat abbreviation normally used between two or more users via computer, phone, or other electronic device. • “Can you get this paper to me ASAP?”
  • “Let me know when dinner is ready ASAP.”
  • “I need this done ASAP.”

With the rise of online text-based communication came the emergence of a new texting language tailored to immediacy and compactness. ASAP is one among hundreds of abbreviations that are used to reduce time spent typing out messages.
