ASAP

ASAP is an acronym for As Soon As Possible, meaning at the earliest possible moment or promptly. ASAP is a common chat abbreviation normally used between two or more users via computer, phone, or other electronic device. Instead of typing out the full phrase, users find it easier to simply use the abbreviated version. Examples of how the acronym is used include:

  • “Can you get this paper to me ASAP?”
  • “Let me know when dinner is ready ASAP.”
  • “I need this done ASAP.”

With the rise of online text-based communication came the emergence of a new texting language tailored to immediacy and compactness. ASAP is one among hundreds of abbreviations that are used to reduce time spent typing out messages.
