Crypto is moving closer to the blackjack table.
Walker Digital Table Systems (WDTS) has agreed to integrate BurraPay’s Direct-to-Device crypto payment technology into its Perfect Pay smart-table platform.
This could allow casino customers to fund their table-game accounts with crypto without leaving their seats, marking a potentially massive move for crypto gambling.
BurraPay’s Direct-to-Device system is designed to remove one of the biggest points of friction for crypto-owning casino customers.
Rather than converting crypto separately, withdrawing cash, and visiting the casino cage, a gambler will now be able to initiate a crypto deposit directly at a compatible gaming table.
BurraPay says the system conducts anti-money-laundering and blockchain-monitoring checks behind the scenes before funding the player’s wagering account.
The company currently supports Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Tether (USDT), and USD Coin (USDC).
BurraPay says its technology lets customers send crypto from the casino floor rather than first cashing out their holdings elsewhere.
After screening the transaction, BurraPay converts the deposit into the casino’s local fiat currency, so neither the player’s gambling balance nor the operator’s payout needs to remain in crypto.
The casino operator also receives dollars or local currency into its bank account.
So a player would effectively bring Bitcoin to the blackjack table without actually placing a BTC-denominated blackjack wager
BurraPay has already tested the broader model in Nevada.
In June, the company went live at Circa Resort & Casino in Las Vegas and processed what it described as Nevada’s first legal crypto-funded sports wager.
The new Walker Digital agreement applies the same concept to the casino floor.
BurraPay launched its Direct-to-Device technology earlier this month, specifically pitching the ability to fund slot machines and connected tables without sending customers to a cashier.
BurraPay CTO Luke Millanta said the partnership could extend the payment platform across Walker Digital’s international casino customer network.
The companies are expected to demonstrate the integration in Las Vegas around the G2E gaming trade show.
The casino deal comes as crypto increasingly moves behind traditional payments.
This week, SoFi has also started settling card payments with its SoFiUSD stablecoin.
Barron’s reports that the card program is expected to process more than $25 billion of transactions each year.
When customers make purchases with their SoFi cards, they still pay and see balances in dollars as normal.
Behind the scenes, however, SoFiUSD can be used to move money between SoFi and Mastercard when those transactions are settled.
The customer does not need to buy or send the stablecoin themselves.
BurraPay is proposing a similar model for casinos: a gambler can fund an account with crypto, while the operator ultimately receives conventional currency.
