Win.com is the executable file responsible for Windows start-up. It runs after the autoexec.bat file is processed, and it accesses the VMM32.vxdfile.

In a Windows 3.x environment, the win.com file is executed by typing “win” in the DOSprompt. In version 9x OSs, win.com runs automatically.
