Pipedrive is customer relationship management (CRM) software designed for sales. The software focuses on the sales pipeline, enabling sales teams to easily set up their funnels and track progress. Learn more about Pipedrive and how it supports users in this guide.

What Is Pipedrive?

Pipedrive is an all-in-one, cloud-based CRM platform designed specifically for sales teams. The platform’s key goal is to help teams manage their sales pipelines so they can close more deals.  Pipedrive logo

Sales teams benefit from a wide range of tools inside Pipedrive, including visual and customizable pipelines, collaboration tools, sales reminders, and lead management. Pipedrive also features automation tools to help teams uncover sales opportunities without human intervention. These tools help teams automate routine tasks and tedious admin work so they can focus on selling products and services.

Additional Pipedrive add-ons

The Pipedrive platform also features several product add-ons to enrich the software. For example, Pipedrive Campaigns is email marketing software that enables sales teams to build custom email campaigns. Using Campaigns, teams can use their CRM data to create personalized emails for segmented audiences.

Another useful add-on is Smart Docs. This add-on allows sales teams to create, manage, and send documents such as proposals and contracts from inside Pipedrive. Tools inside Smart Docs include e-signatures, shared document templates, and integrations with software like Microsoft Word and Google Docs.

How Do You Use Pipedrive?

Pipedrive is primarily used to develop, manage, and track all stages of the sales lifecycle or pipeline. To start, teams simply import their existing pipeline into Pipedrive or use the included templates to build a pipeline from scratch. Pipedrive then does the heavy lifting by sending sales alerts and providing automatic progress reports.

In addition to managing the sales pipeline, teams can do so much more using Pipedrive. They can forecast revenues to see their progress toward reaching sales goals, and they can do robust contact management, keeping all calls and other communications attached to each specific contact.

Who Uses Pipedrive?

Pipedrive is used in a variety of industries and company sizes; information technology, marketing, advertising, and sales teams are the most common customers. However, Pipedrive is especially geared toward startups and small businesses that are looking for a more cost-effective, all-in-one solution.

Larger enterprises looking for a tool that will fit within their existing tech stack may also benefit from Pipedrive. The platform offers built-in integrations with hundreds of other sales, collaboration, marketing, and management tools.

Key Features of Pipedrive

Visual pipelines

Perhaps the most compelling feature inside Pipedrive is the visual pipeline. Teams can easily add stages to their pipeline in just a few clicks. They can also see the entire pipeline in one view and make updates to it through drag-and-drop functionality. Pipelines are fully customizable to fit a company’s needs.

Contact management

Using contact management tools, sales teams can see a simplified record of all communications made between the team and each contact. This includes calls, emails, and meetings. By tracking contacts, sales teams can see just where they’re located within the sales funnel.

Lead generation and management

Pipedrive features robust lead management tools, such as the Leads Inbox. Using the inbox, teams can store all new leads in one place until they’re ready to move forward. For lead generation, Pipedrive also offers a chatbot for interacting with web visitors and web forms for collecting visitor data. Add-ons like Prospector can help teams gather new leads quickly.

Mobile capabilities

Pipedrive is available on mobile devices via the Pipedrive app. This is helpful for sales teams that work remotely and frequently travel. Mobile capabilities include the ability to view sales pipelines as well as reports from anywhere.

Automation

Pipedrive enables teams to automate repetitive tasks through workflow automation capabilities. Pipedrive’s AI engine can send follow-up emails to contacts, transfer deals between sales representatives, and more.

Reporting

Teams benefit from easy access to a wide range of customizable sales reports, including performance reports, conversion reports, and revenue reports. The platform also features sales dashboards for data visualization.

Pros of Using Pipedrive

Free trial available

Pipedrive offers users a free 14-day trial. The trial gives users full access to all of Pipedrive’s capabilities so teams can see if the platform fits their needs.

User-friendly interface

Pipedrive features a user-friendly and intuitive interface. Making changes to sales pipelines is simplified with the drag-and-drop functionality. The platform also features many visual elements like reporting dashboards to make sales tasks and lead analysis simple.

Full sales pipeline management

The Pipedrive platform was designed with busy sales teams in mind. Teams can fully manage every stage of their sales pipelines in one place. Plus, Pipedrive allows teams to have as many pipelines as they need to reach their goals.

Full sales pipeline customization

Each pipeline within Pipedrive is completely customizable. Teams can rename or reorder each pipeline stage and add custom fields to each deal. Pipedrive also features an open API, allowing teams to modify Pipedrive to best suit their needs.

Hundreds of software integrations

Pipedrive integrates with over 250 other apps and services to connect tech stacks. Examples of apps include Zapier, Zoom, DocuSign, and HubSpot

Cons of Using Pipedrive

Add-ons are required for more functionality

Some typical CRM capabilities, such as the ability to create email campaigns and manage documents, require Pipedrive add-ons (Pipedrive Campaigns and Smart Docs, respectively). These add-ons come at an additional cost each month.

No project management tools included

Currently, Pipedrive does not have tools for project management included within the CRM. However, Pipedrive is testing a tool called Projects, which should provide this functionality to users. Unfortunately, it will also be an add-on and will come at an additional cost.
