The iPhone 7 is the seventh generation of Apple’s popular iPhone mobile smartphone device. Apple’s iPhone 7 made its official debut in September 2016, following the iPhone 6S as the company’s latest, greatest smartphone device.

Apple announced the iPhone 7 on September 7th, 2016, with an official release to customers for ordering two days later on September 9th. While the iPhone 7 includes a number of significant enhancements, it does so in a form factor that is nearly identical to earlier iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S devices.

New Features in the iPhone 7

One of the key new features in the iPhone 7 involves a switch from the existing headphone jack to the smartphone’s existing Lightning connector for headphone use, which enables the iPhone 7 to be the thinnest iPhone yet as well as make the phone more water resistant.

In addition to the Lightning-based EarPods, Apple will also be releasing wireless Apple AirPods as on option for iPhone 7 users.

Additional new features in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus include IP67 water resistance (finally), a new pressure-sensitive home button, significant camera improvements (dual 12MP cameras with 4K video recording capabilities), a much faster processor (a 64-bit 4-core Apple A10 Fusion chip), stereo speakers (one at the top and one at the bottom), taptic engine enhancements and improved battery life.

The Apple iPhone 7 offers more storage than previous versions of the smartphone, starting at 32GB and jumping up to 128GB and 256GB as options. Pricing for the iPhone 7 starts at $649, and color options include a new glossy jet black model as well as matte black, gold, silver and rose gold editions.
