Traffic meter is a router (or Wi-Fi device) feature that will monitor the upload and download data consumption of all the devices on your network and notify you when you approach a predefined threshold. A traffic meter is useful if your ISP is enforcing a maximum monthly data transfer allocation, typically this is 250-GB.
