Figma is a web-based digital design and prototyping tool. It can be used to create mobile app interfaces, websites, social media posts, and more. There are several other graphic designing tools, but Figma offers numerous useful unique features such as access to the application via a cloud platform. This allows users to access their projects from any computer that has a browser.

Top Features for Business Users

Figma’s design capabilities are enhanced by three key features businesses need to create and publish digital assets quickly.

Accessibility and Collaboration: Business users have access to several tools for accessibility and collaboration. Users can share files, get feedback, present projects, and more. Everything is web-based, so the file can easily be accessed by using a link.

Flexibility: Users can build and publish prototypes for testing on computers and smartphones. It can also be used as a collaborative white to draft initial concepts and iterations.

Customization: Users can write their own plugins to expand the functionality of the software to meet different proceed needs.

Is Figma free to use?

Three different plans for users are available. The free plan offers unlimited drafts, unlimited editors on three files, one team project, and unlimited cloud storage. The Professional plan at $12 per month* per user provides unlimited projects and files, sharable libraries, and more.

The Organization plan ($45/month) includes all the Professional tier’s features, along with several other tools such as organization-wide design systems, plugin administration, shared fonts, and more. There is no need to buy multiple licenses to install Figma on a local computer drive, users can simply log in to their account to access all the Figma tools for designing and prototyping.

Figma vs. Adobe XD

Figma and Adobe XD are two of the most popular digital design and prototyping tools. While Adobe also offers files on the cloud, the local drives must be re-synced and re-shared every time. This means Adobe XD doesn’t offer Figma’s online functionality. Another key advantage of Figma is that it offers unlimited sharing compared to Adobe XD which allows for one shared file and only 2 GB storage. Note that there is a maximum limit of 500 collaborators or 100 editors to a single Figma file.

Figma’s collaboration tools are accessed through a single web link offering a more reliable and efficient mode of communication between teams than sending files via email. Users already familiar with the Adobe ecosystem might find Adobe XD to be more familiar and easy to use. Adobe XD relies on downloading an application to desktop, laptop, or tablet, while Figma’s web application requires an internet connection, so users who have issues with internet access might have trouble using Figma.

Benefits of using Figma for businesses

As a leading online design tool, Figma offers several benefits for business users. The ease and convenience of browser application combined with the collaborative environment allow for optimized workflow for a team. Businesses can easily switch from other design solutions such as Adobe XD or Proto.io as most designing file formats are compatible with Figma. Figma can also be integrated with other software such as Slack for even smoother collaboration between teams. Finally, because Figma is cloud-based, businesses don’t need to invest in expensive hardware or buy licenses for multiple computers.
