Azure Stack is a hybrid cloud computing software solution developed by Microsoft based on the company’s Azure cloud platform. Azure Stack is designed to help organizations deliver Azure services from their own data center.
Azure Stack combines infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) services in a software stack that spans on-premises datacenter environments as well as Microsoft’s Azure cloud. Azure and Azure Stack share a standardized architecture, including the same portal, a unified application model and common DevOps tools.
Azure Stack Helping Enterprises Embrace Hybrid Cloud Computing
Microsoft created the Azure Stack as a way to help organizations embrace hybrid cloud computing on their own terms by harnessing the power of the cloud while still being able to address business and technical considerations like regulations, data sovereignty, customization and latency.
Azure Stack also serves as Microsoft’s proprietary answer to the open source OpenStack cloud computing platform, with Azure Stack enabling enterprises to keep workloads on-premises or seamlessly move them to the Azure public cloud as needed.
