Aperi is an open source initiative brought forward by nine companies. Under the Aperi project, the goal is to develop a common storage software management platform to manage all brands of storage systems.
Aperi project members will collaborate to develop an open source-based platform to manage storage devices. This, in turn, will provide users with more choices for deploying open-standards-based storage infrastructure software. Aperi community members can contribute code and take advantage of a common platform for building storage software applications.
At time of announcement (October 2005) the group of nine companies making up the Aperi community consist of IBM, Brocade, Cisco, Computer Associates, Engenio, Fujitsu, McData, Network Appliance and Sun.
