EDRM

Short for Electronic Discovery Reference Model, EDRM is an e-discovery standard that was designed to improve systems interoperability and the transfer of electronically stored information (ESI) between applications involved anywhere within the discovery process. The EDRM project was first launched in May 2005 with the completed model being placed in the public domain in the following year, in May 2006. Two subset standards were launched from the original EDRM project including the following:

  • EDRM Metrics: Intended to provide a standard approach and a generally accepted language for measuring the full range of electronic discovery activities.
  • EDRM XML: An XML schema to facilitate movement of electronic information from one step of the electronic discovery process to the next, one software program to the next, and one organization to the next.
