Cloud Native Application Bundle (CNAB)

Cloud Native Application Bundle (CNAB) is an open source, cloud-agnostic specification to facilitate the bundling, installing and managing of container-native apps and their coupled services. A CNAB can be cryptographically signed, attested, and verified to ensure a trustworthy source.

The Cloud Native Application Bundle allows users to define resources that can be deployed to any combination of runtime environments and tooling including Docker Engine, Azure, Kubernetes, Helm, automation tools and cloud services. CNAB lets developers define the resources that can be deployed to a combination of platforms, including workstations, public clouds, offline networks, and IoT environments.

The Cloud Native Application Bundle specification was jointly announced by Microsoft and Docker in 2018. The draft of the specification is available at cnab.io.
