AI Development Tools

Artificial intelligence (AI) development tools are software that enhance the development process by using machine learning, a subset of AI that uses algorithm-based data analysis to produce dynamic predictions. As AI becomes more ubiquitous, software developers rely on these tools to automate debugging, detect patterns, generate code, predict outcomes, and ensure code accuracy among other uses. Developers in industries like manufacturing, transportation, and education also leverage AI development tools to replace systems and processes that are subject to human error or bias, although the data sampling used as the foundation for these types of algorithms is frequently called into question.

AI development also relies on a specific type of hardware called accelerators, which includes graphic processing units (GPUs), application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), and similar microchips. Together, AI hardware and software tools are used to develop some of the most recognizable machine learning algorithms in use today, such as natural language processing (NLP), facial recognition, revenue projections, and self-driving cars.

Market-leading AI hardware manufacturers include NVIDIA, Intel, and GraphCore. The list of top AI development software, by comparison, is relatively more robust and includes:

  • Google Cloud Machine Learning Engine
  • Microsoft Azure Machine Learning Studio
  • Infosys Nia
  • Cortana
  • IBM Watson
  • TensorFlow
