5 Easy Editorial SEO Tips to Boost Traffic
Organic search is highly competitive. The higher a website naturally ranks in organic search results, the greater the chance of converting search users to website visitors and boosting your website traffic. The following search engine optimization (SEO) tricks are designed to help you land better organic search positions and increase traffic. Let's get started with title tags and keyword usage.
Start the Page Title with Your Keyword
Title tags are often displayed in snippets of the search engine results page (SERP) and when you create social links to the article – for example when you link your content in Facebook Posts. Use your keyword in the title tag and be sure to place it close to the beginning of the tag for best results. It carries more weight with the search engines and it helps users clearly see just how closely related your page is to their actual search query.
Use Your Keyword in the Article Title
Not to be confused with the Page Title in the previous slide, your article title (or headline) is another place where it is important to use your keyword. Wrapped in the H1 tag, the article title is the most emphasized text on the page. It is shown in a larger font, it is the first text that users see when they load your page from search results. This H1 HTML tag is an important part of on-page article optimization.
Try to Use Good Subheadings
Subheadings like the < H2 > or the < H3 > are also pretty important on-page SEO elements. Visitors to your page will often use subheadings as a way to easily scan your content for the exact topic they used a search engine to find. When creating lengthy articles and site content, be sure to use creative subheadings to break up the content for users. Make sure the subheadings are descriptive and always work in your main and similar keywords when and where possible.Short and Descriptive URLs Work Best
The URL (that is, the actual web address to the specific article within your website) should be short and descriptive. Often, this URL is seen by people in the search engine results page and via social media links so be sure to keep the URL short and use your keyword. Lengthy URLs with extraneous characters will not be as effective and show the relationship between your page and the exact search query. When people glance at a URL you want them to see important words and be able to read it.Use Optimized Images
Images and other types of media are important elements of on-page article optimization. When using media, be sure to compress images to reduce loading time. Images can further be optimized for SEO by using your keyword in the filename and in your image ALT text. Also, don't forget to reuse or create special versions of images to post links in social media. Images are great for SEO and entice people to click links on Facebook and in Twitter.
We offer five easy on-page editorial SEO tips to improve your page title, heading, subheadings, keywords and images to help drive organic search engine traffic.
