legacy network
(1) The term used to describe a network based on older, outdated protocols. For example, any network not based on the IP (TCP/IP) protocol - like IPX or SNA- is considered a legacy network.
(2) In wireless networks, the term is used to describe networks based on older 802.11x standards that predate the 802.11n standard. The legacy standards include 802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g.
