Hexadite works by first receiving security alerts from other security solutions and vendors. It then parses these alerts with previously accumulated Hexadite data to formulate the potential for malware and other cyberattacks. For high-level cyberattacks, Hexadite can autonomously terminate these events and either prevent or limit the amount of damage caused.
Hexadite Acquired by Microsoft in 2017
In June 2017 Microsoft moved to acquire Hexadite in order to integrate the company's Automated Incident Response System (AIRS) technology into its existing enterprise security software, Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (WDATP).
WDATP is a cloud-based security suite for use in enterprises, and with the Hexadite acquisition Microsoft wanted to enhance the suite's effectiveness with Hexadite technology as well as make WDATP more attractive to potential enterprise customers.
Microsoft sees the addition of Hexadite technology in WDATP as a way to further automate the comprehensive security protection process for enterprises that often lack the full resources and/or expertise to detect, investigate and remediate advanced security cyberattacks.
