Ansible is a software platform developed to streamline and simplify cloud provisioning, configuration management, application deployment, intra-service orchestrations and similar emerging IT systems, processes and infrastructure.
Ansible At Is Most Basic Level
At its most basic level, Ansible is used to facilitate and automate workflow orchestration with configuration management, provisioning, and application deployment handled in an intuitive and efficient manner that simplifies otherwise complex and potentially challenging configuration and management operations.
The free Ansible platform combines multi-node software deployment and configuration management, and primarily utilizes Secure Shell (SSH) or PowerShell to connect to servers and run configured Ansible "Tasks" that help organize and manage disparate systems and processes.
Ansible Takes Center Stage at OpenStack Summit
At the 2016 OpenStack Summit in Barcelon, Spain, Ansible played a key role in a live on-stage interoperability challenge, with sixteen different vendors using the Ansible platform to orchestrate an architecture that included network, storage and security groups.
Among the vendors participating in the interop challenge and showcasing Ansible's versatility were AT&T, Canonical, Cisco, DreamHost, Fujitsu, HPE, Huawei, IBM, Intel, Linaro, Mirantis, Rackspace, Red Hat, SUSE and VMware.
