Yourdon, Ed | In the mid-1970s, Yourdon developed structured methods, a set of formalisms for software development. He wrote Structured Design: Fundamentals of a Discipline of Computer Program and Systems Design, considered to be the definitive text on the subject. Structured methods were Yourdan's answer to the problem of managing large systems, such as banking back offices, which the existing FORTRAN or COBOL codes could not support. |
