Co-founded Apple Computer Corporation in 1976 with Steve Wozniak. He currently is the CEO of Apple and the CEO of Pixar, a computer animation studio he co-founded in 1986. After dropping out of college, Jobs worked for several months for Atari Corporation developing computer games and began building his telephone "blue box," a device that enabled one to make free long distance calls. In 1984, Apple introduced the Macintosh to the world, a personal computer to rival the likes of those from IBM. In 1985, Jobs left Apple to form NeXT, which he hoped would focus on educational computing. Jobs returned to Apple where he is currently the CEO.

Joy, Bill

Co-founded Sun Microsystems with Andy Bechtolsheim, Vinod Khosla and Scott McNeally. While attending Berkeley grad school, Joy was the principal designer of Berkeley UNIX. After starting Sun, he designed its Network File System and was a co-designer of the SPARC microprocessor architecture. In 1991, he designed the basic pipeline of UltraSparc-I and its multimedia processing features. This basic pipeline is the one used in all of Sun's SPARC microprocessors today. In 1997, Joy was appointed by President Clinton as co-chairman of the Presidential Information Technology Advisory Committee. He was appointed as chief scientist of Sun in 1998.
