bandwidth hog

HTML clipboard A slang term used to describe files that take a very long time to download. For example, if you were downloading an image or file that required a lot of bandwidth for a long period of time you would say it was a "bandwidth hog." The phrase is also used to describe users on shared Internet connections who task the available bandwidth. For example a person logging in to check e-mail is not a bandwidth hog -- but a person who tags 500 MP3s for downloading would be considered one.
