VOPVelocity of Propagation is the speed of a signal in relation to the speed of light in a vacuum (186,400 miles per second). The number 1 represents the speed of light; all other signals are a fraction of this. A cable with a VOP of.75 transmits a signal at 75% of the speed of light.
Factors that affect the velocity of propagation are various insulation materials and thicknesses.
