A cross-platform media player that can be used for playing multiple audio and video formats such as MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, Ogg and others. VLC also supports DVD, VCD and various streaming protocols and can be used as a server to stream in unicast or multicast. VLC is available for many different operating systems including Windows, MacOS X, BeOS, multiple Linux versions, Fedora, FreeBSD, Solaris and others. The VLC media Player is produced under VideoLAN, a software project that produces free software for video, released under the GNUGeneral Public License.
