SAA

Abbreviation of System Application Architecture, a set of architecture standards developed by IBM for program, user, and communications interfaces on various IBM platforms. The main components are:

  • Common Programming Interface (CPI)
  • Common User Access (CUA)
  • Common Communication Support (CCS)
  • SAA standards were first introduced in the late 1980s. Implementing these standards allows programmers to develop software that is consistent across differing platforms and operating systems.
