grabber

(1) A device that captures data. The term is used most often to describe devices that can capture full-motion video from a television or video camera and convert it to digital form for storage on a computer's disk.

(2) In some applications, a special tool or cursor that enables you to grab objects on the screen and move them or manipulate them in some other way. A grabber cursor is often represented by a hand icon.
