A function of many Internet search engines that lets users specify keywords, phrases or tags pertaining to any topic that you would like to be notified of when new search results are available. Most alerts are delivered by e-mail or by RSS feed. Users can set alerts matching their own industry or their name or business name to be notified when it is mentioned somewhere online.
