Algae

A free programming language for numerical analysis. It is most commonly used in aerospace and related fields. Algae got its start in 1989 in the Boeing Aerospace Company, now the Boeing Defense & Space Group,  and was originally called ISMLAB. The ISMLAB project was cancelled in 1991, but was released again under the name of AMPL in 1994. Finally, the project was renamed to Algae in early 1997.
