4Shared is a free, online file-sharing service that provides storage for music, video, and image files. It has been in operation since 2005. Users can create an account at 4Shared.com and receive 10GB of free storage space upon registering. If a user verifies their email address, the storage is increased to 15 GB.

With 4Shared, users can create folders and upload content (although files can be no larger than 2048MB.) Permissions can be set for each folder, allowing users to share files using a link or keep them private. Passwords can be placed on sensitive files to restrict access. While there’s no end-to-end encryption available, 4Shared supports FTP and Secure FTP connections to transfer a large number of files securely.

Users can take advantage of download managers to collect multiple files at the same time, and if a download is interrupted, the service will resume when it is able. Single or multiple files can be uploaded only from the desktop version of 4Shared. The mobile app, available for Android and Mac, allows users to upload complete folders.

4Shared pricing and plans

4Shared offers two main pricing plans:

Free

Free users get 15 GB of storage and can upload single files of up to 2 GB each. While this plan allows users to share files and folders, they cannot create direct links and have a daily download traffic limit of 3 GB. For free users, the service will delete accounts if they haven’t been accessed in the last 180 days. Multiple files cannot be downloaded simultaneously, and download accelerators can’t be used.

Premium

4Shared offers four tiers of pricing within the premium plan based on duration. Durations are separated into one month, three months, six months, and yearly. The longer the duration is, the cheaper the monthly payment. Regardless of tier, feature offerings are the same. Users get 100GB of storage, A 5 GB maximum file size, faster download speeds, and the elimination of advertisements.
